HBO’s Game of Thrones has crossed its Season 7 midpoint and nobody knows what the Hell is really going on…still.
Yet, that seems to be par for the course in George R. R. Martin’s fantasy series. I’ve read the books and I hate them…lovingly hate them. Every time I think the author is going to reveal a character’s background or initiate a much-rumored plot twist, nothing happens. I’ve read these books from the first installment. Six books in and I feel no closer to answering any of the big questions.
Will Aria reunite with her direwolf Nymeria and finish her kill list?
Will Jon Snow’s true birth heritage be revealed?
Will Bran do something remotely important with his Three-eyed Raven powers?
The list goes on and on.
With episode 6 “Beyond the Wall” on the horizon, I’m left shaking my head. Will this season conclude with still so many secrets untouched? Why are the GOT Suicide Squad on this ridiculous mission beyond the Wall in the first place? Does this bring us closer to an ultimate confrontation with White Walkers? Probably not.
The show seems to defy logic and the characters never make the right decisions. Yet, it is visually stunning and thrilling to watch. I shouldn’t be surprised though….this is what Game of Thrones is all about.
Tease. Tease. Tease.
